The alleged Nina Dobrev-Ian Somerhalder-Nikki Reed romance drama is once again in the news, with a recent report stating that "The Vampire Diaries" actress has asked ex beau Ian Somerhalder to call off his wedding to Nikki Reed.
According to gossip website Celeb Dirty Laundry, Dobrev and Somerhalder's on-screen chemistry has spilled over off-screen as well, and the actress now wants to get back with Somerhalder. Their "Vampire Diaries" characters Elena and Damon were kept apart for most of season 6, but their storylines have now merged, requiring the two to make out on-screen.
"And no matter what people say, you cannot kiss an ex and expect to feel nothing – it's just not human nature," believes Celeb Dirty Laundry.
The media outlet adds that this has resulted in a lot of fights between Somerhalder and Dobrev, who wants to get back together, and Somerhalder and Reed, who is feeling insecure due to her fiancé spending time with his former flame.
Somerhalder and Dobrev were involved for about three years before calling it quits in mid 2013. Dobrev's hesitancy to settle down was cited as one of the reasons for the split, but she is said to have had a change of heart ever since Somerhalder got engaged to Reed early this year.
But all these reports of Dobrev and Somerhalder getting back together appear to be mere rumours, as the actor is clearly over the moon when it comes to his fiancée.
The 36-year old on Friday Instagrammed a picture of the engagement ring he presented to Reed and gushed about her selflessness.
"So excited-heading to @humanesociety Gala in Miami to present an honor to a beautiful woman whom I'm so grateful to be her date," Somerhalder wrote. "Amazing how effortlessly the missions of like minds and shared hearts line up and fuel one another to create such amazing change-standing up for those with no voice.
"I'm blown away by @iamnikkireed, the Humane Society as well as all of you that support all of these amazing causes to make this incredible change. YOU are the real change makers... "
