Even as the team of the popular show "Diya Aur Baati Hum" wrapped up its final episode recently, speculations regarding the lead pair of the season 2 have already started doing the rounds. "Diya Aur Baati Hum" will end on a sad note with the death of Sooraj (Anas Rashid) and Sandhya (Deepika Singh) and will return with the new season next year.

Apparently, Niti Taylor, who rose to popularity as Nandini of "Yeh Hai Aashiqui," has been finalised for the lead role in "Diya Aur Baati Hum 2," Bollywood Life reported. Niti will reportedly play the role of protagonist Khanak, who is the daughter of Sooraj and Sandhya.

In another report, Iqbal Khan was said to have been approached for the male lead. The script reportedly requires an actor who is around 35 years old, and hence Uma Shankar and Iqbal fits into the role.

While the makers are yet to finalise the lead pair, rumour has it that actors like Neelu Waghela (Bhabho), Kanika Maheshwari (Meenakshi) and Karan Godwani (Vikram) will continue to be a part of "Diya Aur Baati Hum 2."

"Diya Aur Baati Hum," with its unique concept and powerful performances by the cast, was one of the top shows on Indian television since its inception. However, over the last few months, it has experienced drastic fall in ratings, which forced the makers to pull the plug.
