Buzz is that "Dilwale" actress Kriti Sanon has been roped in for Mohit Suri's next directorial venture, "Half Girlfriend".

An adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's book of the same name, the film will be co-produced by the author himself.

"Yes, Kriti is keen on doing the film. She was present for the book launch and she has also read the book a year ago," Pinkvilla quoted Mohit as saying. "But there has been certain date issues I have to sort out, and I also have other commitments like Aashiqui 3."

If Kriti is finalised for the film, it will be another fresh Jodi on screen. Till now, Kriti has charmed viewers with her appearance in "Heropanti", her debut film, and will now star in "Dilwale".

On the other hand, the "Aashiqui 2" director has already caste the male lead of the film — Sushant Singh Rajput.

While several actors' names were being associated with the project, Sushant grabbed the lead role of "Madhav Jha" in "Half Girlfriend" apparently due to his impressive preparation.

"When I was reading the book, I realised Madhav's character has a unique mix of naivety and ruggedness that is intriguing and extremely crucial to the story. However, the challenge was to put a face to this endearing Madhav Jha, which I could never do until I met Sushant," Times of India quoted Mohit as saying.

"I was blown away with his sheer dedication to embody the character. I was shocked at first, but impressed at how hard he had worked on perfecting certain nuances. I knew right then that I had found my 'Madhav Jha'," he added.

Earlier, there were reports that the director was considering either Deepika Padukone or Katrina Kaif for the female lead. However, the recent buzz is Kriti has been finalised for the part, but an official announcement is yet to be made.
