"Dharmadurai" is likely to become yet another feather in Vijay Sethupathi's cap as the Tamil movie has got a good opening. The movie, which was released on Friday, Aug. 19, has made a good collection on its first day at the box office.

Vijay Sethupathi has been consistently delivering hits and this turned out to be a major advantage for the film in attracting people towards the theatres. The advance booking got good responses in Chennai city and a few other centres, thereby helping the film to get a good start at the box office.

"Dharmadurai" was released in over 330 screens in Tamil Nadu. The early reports coming from the trade experts say that the movie has registered over 55-65 percent occupancy and it has easily crossed 80-percent mark in Chennai. It clearly indicates the growing popularity of Vijay Sethupathi among urban audience.

However, the story has a rural backdrop and the business is expected to pick up well in the days to come in the B and C centres. The exact collection of the movie on its first day has not been revealed yet but the trade experts feel that it has made above Rs. 2.5 crore on the first day.

It is interesting to note that the movie has done well despite less promotional activities.

"Dharmadurai" is written and directed by Seenu Ramaswamy. The movie has Tamannaah Bhatia, Aishwarya Rajesh and Srushti Dange in the female leads. The film has opened to fairly positive reviews. Hence, the industry is expecting the film to do well in the first weekend.

Moreover, lack of competition from other films is turning out to be a big advantage for "Dharmadurai."
