Mumbai/Pune, Sep 08 (ANI): Thousands of devotees in Mumbai on Monday bid farewell to Lord Ganesha, as they thronged to immerse the idol after completion of the 10-day festival of Ganesh Chaturthi. Mumbai witnessed a beeline of devotees with huge idols of Ganesha walking across streets or on trucks and other vehicles. Security measures were beefed up across the state as thousands of devotees took to streets to bid a colourful farewell to Ganesha. Ganesha is regarded and worshipped as an index of knowledge and also the harbinger of auspicious tidings. The annual festival of Ganesha Chaturthi usually falls between August and September.
