Bollywood movie Dear Zindagi starring Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan continued its dream run at the Indian box office on its second Saturday, taking its nine-day collection beyond Rs 50 crore mark.

Dear Zindagi, which was released in 1,200 screens in the domestic market on November 25, opened to good response and showed decent growth over the weekend. The movie was expected to do well and surpass the Rs 50 crore mark in its opening week. The movie made good collection on weekdays too, but failed to cross the mark with a small margin.

The Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan-starrer collected Rs 47 crore nett at the Indian box office in the first week. The day-wise breakup of Dear Zindagi is Rs 8.75 crore on Fri, Rs 11.25 crore on Sat, Rs 12.50 crore on Sun, Rs 4.25 crore on Mon, Rs 4 crore on Tue, Rs 3.25 crore on Wed and Rs 3 crore on Thu.

Trade analysts predicted that its dream round would be slowed down by much-awaited movie Kahaani 2, which was released in over 1200 screens in the country on 2 December. As predicted, Dear Zindagi had a steep decline in its numbers and the film witnessed around 76 percent on its second Friday, when compared to its opening day collection. The movie failed to cross Rs 50 crore mark once again.

Dear Zindagi collected Rs 2.25 crore at the Indian box office on its second Friday, taking its eight-day domestic total collection to Rs 49.25 crore. Taran Adarsh tweeted: "#DearZindagi [Week 2] Fri 2.25 cr. Total: ₹ 49.25 cr. India biz... Will cross ₹ 50 cr mark today [Sat]."

The Gauri Shinde-directed movie became first choice for many film goers on its second Saturday after Kahaani 2 received mixed talk from audience and critics and it showed decent jump in its collection. Dear Zindagi has collected over Rs 3.50 crore nett at the Indian box office on its second Saturday, taking its nine-day domestic total collection to Rs 52.75 crore.

Taran Adarsh ‏tweeted: "#DearZindagi shows 55.56% growth on Sat... [Week 2] Fri 2.25 cr, Sat 3.50 cr. Total: ₹ 52.75 cr. India biz."

English Vinglish, which marked the debut of Gauri Shinde as director, collected Rs 34.86 crore nett at the Indian box office in its lifetime. Her second movie Dear Zindagi has shattered this record in just four days and is heading to set to new benchmark for the director. As per its current trends, the film is likely to cross Rs 75 crore mark in the domestic mark in its lifetime.
