Nissan's sub-brand Datsun is inching closer to the launch of the redi-Go, its third model for India, and the hatchback has been spotted at dealership for the display and test drive purposes. The picture taken by goaonwheels.com shows three units of redi-Go parked at dealership in red, green and white shades. Datsun has confirmed deliveries of the hatchback in June, hinting at the launch in the first week of the month.
The company commenced online and dealership-level bookings for the hatchback from May 1. Unlike the previous two vehicles from Datsun, the redi-Go is based on the CMF-A platform developed by Renault and Nissan. This is the same platform that also underpins Renault Kwid. Both the cars also share identical powertrain with same specifications. The redi-Go is powered by a 799cc three-cylinder petrol motor that churns out 53bhp and a peak torque of 72Nm, mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Both cars will return a claimed fuel efficiency of 25.17kmpl.
The redi-Go measures 3,429mm in length, 1,560mm in width and 1,541mm in height. This means the Datsun car is shorter in length and taller in height than Renault Kwid. The redi-Go will have a 26.8-degree approach angle and a 58.6-degree departure angle. It will run on 13-inch wheels and will also come with an audio system that has radio, CD, MP3, USB and aux-in connectivity. To be sold in five colours — ruby red, white, silver, lime green, and grey — the redi-Go is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 2.5 lakh to Rs. 3.5 lakh.
