The news came in on Tuesday, June 13, that the official website of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), was hacked. Reasons are relatively unknown as of now. Sourav Ganguly is the president of the Bengal cricket board.

We checked the website at about 4:30 pm IST and found this.

International Business Times, India has contacted the CAB office in Kolkata but none of the senior officials were present to answer the call. On being asked, some officials mentioned that they had no clue about the incident as the contacted staff were not much aware of CAB's digital platforms.

The staff has also mentioned that the senior officials of the federation could be in a meeting with the Lalbazar police cyber cell as no senior was present to give an update on the situation.

We also tried ringing up CAB joint secretary Abhishek Dalmiya but the calls remained unanswered.

Lalbazar police alerted

The cyber cell officials from Lalbazar confirmed to IBT India that a case has been lodged and the matter is "under process". They, however, didn't reveal who could possibly be behind the crime and if a timeline has been set as to when the website could be retrieved.

According to the Press Trust of India, Dalmiya mentioned that a written complaint was made to the cyber cell of the Lalbazar Police Station after the website was hacked late Monday night.

"We have filed a written complaint with the cyber cell at Lalbazar on June 10. Police are investigating the matter and have promised us enhanced security level," Dalmiya told PTI.

"We have been assured that the problem will get solved within the next two to three days. Hopefully, things will be sorted out soon."

From football to cricket, cyber terrorists having a field day

It must be noted that even the All India Football Federation (AIFF) website was hacked in May this year by a group called "Zero Cool".

This happened during the long saga over the fate of Indian citizen Kulbhushan Jadhav, whose death sentence was announced by Pakistan. The possible Pakistani hackers of the AIFF website hurled profanities on Indians and mentioned that they would be sending back the corpse of Jadhav from Pakistan.
