Micromax's subsidiary Yu Televentures forged an alliance with American software-maker Cyanogen in 2014 to make operating system software exclusive to its devices. But, a new report has emerged that the two companies have severed the ties.

Last month, Lenovo announced the Cyanogen OS-powered ZUK Z1 would soon be released in India. But, there was speculation that the company might face legal action from Yu as it had exclusive rights to use the Cyanogen OS.

Even OnePlus was also asked to stop the sale of the flagship phone One, which came with the Cyanogen OS. The Chinese smartphone-maker was forced to come up with its own software — OxygenOS and HydrogenOS â€” for India and China-bound handset models, respectively. Many believe Lenovo might face similar sanctions.

Now, Anuj Sharma, head of Product Marketing at Lenovo, has revealed in an interview with a media house that the Cyanogen-YU deal is no more exclusive and the company is all geared up for the launch of the ZUK Z1 in the second week of May.

"It [the deal] was there before that's what I was told by Cyanogen team. But the team has now said its ok. So we are going ahead with the launch," NDTV Gadgets 360 quoted Anuj Sharma as saying.

Sharma also said the company would release a 64GB model with an aggressive price-tag, but declined to disclose the actual cost of the device.

The ZUK Z1 costs ¥1,700 (around $276/€250/Rs. 17,860) in China, and since it is more than eight months old, it is expected to be priced around Rs. 15,000.
