Jamaica will lock horns with Venezuela in a Group C encounter of the Copa America Centenario edition at the Solder Field in Chicago on Sunday. Both teams are unlikely to make it to the knockout stages of the tournament as they will have to get past the likes of Mexico and Uruguay, who also will play against each other on Sunday.

However, a scenario may arise that Jamaica may stun Venezuela in their opening game of the Copa America 2016. Their stunning performance in last year's Gold Cup have helped them earn a place in this year's Copa America.

Jamaica outclassed Costa Rica in the quarter-finals, followed by the USA in the semi-finals to set up a feisty final with Mexico. But that was all. They could not go past Mexico but certainly earned a lot of respect.

Venezuela will be wary of this meteoric rise of Jamaica and are surely not going to take their opponents lightly at the Solder Field.

Venezuela have a number of issues to address before they take the field against Jamaica on Sunday. They have managed to win just one out of their last four matches and those stats are not really nice to see just ahead of the start of their Copa America Centenario campaign.

However, they will be banking on West Bromwich Albion forward Jose Salomon Rondon, who performed decently in the recently concluded Premier League season. Rondon found the back of the net nine times in the last season for West Bromwich Albion.
