Coolpad has finally launched its first flagship smartphone in India on Friday, expanding its territory from budget phones to premium ones. Coolpad Max, the affordable premium smartphone which has been teased for days now, is priced at Rs. 24,999 and comes in gold and rose gold options. The company announced that the Max smartphone will be available exclusively on Amazon from 12 noon on May 30.

Coolpad Max offers premium features like any other flagship, but what's really interesting is the handset's "dual in one" capability, which has been touted as the industry's first by its maker. The new smartphone features dual SIM, dual standby support and an all-new dual operating system to keep personal and corporate stuff separate. The internal system ensures the calls and texts are encrypted for added security and privacy using BiLogin technology.

Coolpad Max's dual space feature is powered by Secure Spaces from Graphite software. Speaking of security, Coolpad Max features an upgraded fingerprint scanner at the back, which the company claims can recognise the registered print with wet fingers as well. Like in the other Coolpad phones, the fingerprint scanner is accurate and quick.

Coolpad Max also offers a fresh design with all-metal unibody and aesthetic finish. It has a 5.5-inch Full HD display with 401ppi and a 2.5D Arc Gorilla Glass 4 protection, which also adds to the looks of the device. The handset features a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with ISOCELL sensor, 6P lens, f/2.0 aperture, PDAF and dual LED flash. The selfie camera is equipped with a 5MP f/2.2 aperture lens.

Coolpad Max is powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB expandable storage and Android 5.1 Lollipop based Cool UI 8.0. The interface has been improved a lot in the Max and enhances the overall user experience. The handset packs a 2,800mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 feature, which can deliver three hours of talk time with just five minutes of charge.

Coolpad has made a name for itself in the budget space with devices such as Note 3 and Note 3 Lite by offering features like the fingerprint scanner at a dirt cheap price. Coolpad Max is the company's attempt at growing beyond the boundaries of budget smartphones and challenging rivals in the higher price range.

Coolpad isn't the only one that has launched a new flagship, as Smartron on Thursday unveiled its premium t.phone with 4GB RAM, 13MP camera, 3,000mAh battery and unlimited cloud storage at Rs. 22,999. Micromax's YU is expected to launch its Yunicorn smartphone in India on May 31, which will also compete against these new rivals.
