It has now been confirmed that superstar Rajinikanth's film with director KS Ravi Kumar will be titled as "Lingaa."
Ravikumar himself has confirmed the news by posting a teaser poster on his verified official Facebook page on Tuesday evening. As earlier reported, Anushka Shetty and Sonakshi Sinha will be playing the female leads.
Music composer AR Rahman will be working on the film's soundtracks. Earlier, there were speculations that Anirudh will be composing the songs, but now Ravi Kumar has confirmed that Rahman is onboard the big budget project.
The film's shooting is all set to commence in Mysore from 2 May. It may be noted that the film's title "Lingaa" has a family connection with Rajinikanth, as the superstar's grandson (Dhanush-Aishwarya's second son) is named "Lingaa."
The film is touted to be a commercial entertainer with Rajinikanth reportedly playing a dual role. Sonakshi Sinha will apparently be playing the role of a girl from the 40s. The Mumbai Mirror reports that there are two female lead characters in the film - a girl-next-door character from the past era and a contemporary character. Sinha was asked to pick her role and the actress has chosen to play the 40s girl, according to the daily.
"The role picked by Sonakshi is meatier. The film's director Ravikumar too thought that she is well suited to enact the role of the girl from the 40s," a source close to Sinha told the Mirror. The other role will be played by the "Singam" actress.
"Lingaa" will be Rajinikanth's fourth collaboration with Ravi Kumar. The actor-director duo has worked in some of the Tamil film industry's biggest hits including "Muthu" and "Padayappa." Ravi Kumar has also written the story and screenplay for superstar's upcoming film "Kochadaiiyaan", directed by his second daughter Soundarya. The epic drama is all set to hit the screens worldwide on 9 May.
