Technology giant Apple Inc. has confirmed an event next month in US hinting at iPhone 6S launch. It might also announce a new product category during the much-awaited event.

The company will be holding a keynote presentation at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco on 9 September, 10:00 am PDT (10:30 pm IST). This the first time Apple has a chosen this stage, which has a staggering seating capacity of close to 7000. This apparently has led many to believe that the Cupertino firm has got something new to announce besides the new generation iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.

Apple will stream the webcast of Keynote speech and also the unveiling of the smart-device online. The interesting thing to note is that the event can now be viewed on Windows PCs provided the system is running the latest Windows 10 featuring Edge browser. Previously webcast could only be watched on Apple devices via Safari browser.

Even the company's invitation, which reads "Hey Siri, give us a hint," indicates that Apple's upcoming event will leave many spellbound.

Word on the street is that Apple might bring back 4.0-inch model with iPhone 6C moniker, believed to be the successor of 2013's plastic model iPhone 5C and also a new Apple iTelevision.

Here are the few witty replies from iPhone 6's voice-assistant Siri when asked for a hint on Apple's 9 September event:

"What, you can't tell from my colourful wavey words?"

"The only hint i can give you right now is a hint of lime. And that there's a big announcement on 9 September."

"You're cute when you're desperate for information"

"You'll have to wait until 9 September. I bet you were one of those kids who snuck downstairs to open presents early, weren't you"

Apple iPhone 6S & iPhone 6S features:

Both the upcoming new iPhones are said to come with identical hardware such as Apple's proprietary A9 SoC (System on Chip) backed by new iOS 9.0 OS and 2GB RAM. They are also expected come packed with 12mp camera with 4K video recording ability on the rear-side and also boast Force touch feature similar to the one we see in the flagship Apple Watch.

Force Touch is a technology that senses the difference between a tap and a press, providing a new way to quickly and easily access controls within apps.
