As an adolescent, Obama is reported to have smoked weed regularly. But how would he react if he was offered cannabis by a random man in a bar?

A man offered Obama some weed at a Denver bar on Tuesday night as the president visited residents of Colorado State – where smoking weed is legal.

The man who identified himself as Matt Anton, posted pictures and videos online of the moment he offered Obama some legal pot.

"You wanna hit this?" the guy shouts as Obama greets many people in the crowd. An astonished president – not knowing how to react – chooses to simply laugh and move on.

The man has even posted a picture on Instagram that shows Obama smiling after he questions him.

If the incident had occurred a couple of years ago, the guy would be taken into custody. Times seem to be ever changing in the land of Uncle Sam!

"I held up a joint asking if Barry O wanted to 'hit this' – he candidly smiles...but never said no," says Anton on the description of the You Tube video showing the incident.

Various biographical accounts reveal that Obama used to smoke weed as a teenager, but he is officially against the legalization of marijuana.

He was however, earlier in the year, reported to have said that the drug was no more dangerous than alcohol.

"As has been well documented, I smoked pot as a kid, and I view it as a bad habit and a vice, not very different from the cigarettes that I smoked as a young person up through a big chunk of my adult life. I don't think it is more dangerous than alcohol," he told New Yorker editor David Remnick in January

The president had however, reiterated that it was not something he encouraged people to do. "I've told my daughters I think it's a bad idea, a waste of time, not very healthy," he remarked.
