A lot has been written about the upcoming compact SUV from Tata Motors, Nexon, which was caught on camera countless times while undergoing testing through different terrain conditions in India. Now, here comes yet another set of images, probably some of the best images of Nexon, suggesting that it is progressing at a rapid pace.

The latest images of Nexon come from Motoroids. While the images alone do not have anything new to reveal, the original publisher of the photographs says that there were two prototypes of Nexon on test wearing different number plates. However, the prototypes did not wear any distinguishable difference. The spotted prototypes of Nexon could either be with different engines under the hood or could be different variants.

Nexon is expected to be launched in the country in early 2017. Although it was previously rumoured to come by the end of 2016, Tata is said to have pushed it to 2017 as the company is revisiting the strategy of its upcoming models.

For the uninitiated, Nexon, which would rival Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV 300, is built on the heavily modified Tata X1 platform of Indica. Under the hood, the compact SUV is likely to get a 1.2-litre turbo-charged petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The transmission in the model is likely to be taken care of by six-speed AMT box.

From the visual standpoint, the front fascia of Nexon is expected to get chrome Humanity Line on the upper grille featuring stylish projector headlamps with daytime running lamps (DRLs) and the rear is expected to get LED tail-lamps with chrome accents, arising beltline and a floating roof uplifts the rear of the car. As for features, Nexon is expected to get keyless entry, push start/top button, reverse-parking camera and a 6.5-inch infotainment system with Bluetooth and USB connectivity.
