Veteran southern stars, who were popular in the 1980s, had a day-long get-together in Chennai on Saturday (18 January).

As many as 32 actors from all four south Indian film industries including Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, Venkatesh, Chiranjeevi, Nandamuri Balakrishna, Suman, Ramesh Aravind, Jayaram, Ambareesh, Arjun and Mohan reunited for a day at Mohanlal's beachfront property in Chennai.

Actresses including Kushboo, Radhika Sarathkumar, Suhasini, Radha, Ambika, Lizzy, Sumalatha, Ramya Krishnan, Nadhiya, Revathy, Saritha and Poornima Bhagyaraj were also present at the occasion.

This is the fifth time that the actors, who call themselves the "80s club", have gathered for a get-together. The idea was first initiated by Suhasini and the first reunion happened in 2009. Ever since, the class of 80's party has been happening every year.

The veteran actors follow a different theme each year and this time their party had a Hawaiian theme. All the actors wore Hawaiian-style floral dresses and flower garlands. The only rule of the party is that they should not bring along their family members. The actors had a gala time talking, playing and enjoying their day.

Kushboo tweeted: "Reunion of the '80s is the best thing that could happen to us,'80s gang..so much of warmth, laughter n fun..we look 2 it 4ward every year :)"

Radhika Sarathakumar: "God bless the friends of 80's, was a fab night. Thks to Mohanlal who hosted this yr he made it so perfect.thks all."

Superstar Rajinikanth had initially said that he might not be able to attend the party. But, he made a surprise visit and spent a good time at the party.

Some of the popular actors of 80s including Kamal Haasan and Nagarjuna were missing from the party as they were busy with their commitments. Apparently, the actors have showed interest in attending the party next year.
