American automobile manufacturer Chevrolet claimed that they will launch 10 new domestically manufactured vehicles in India over the next five years on 29 July. Chevrolet India confirmed the launch of Trailblazer SUV in October on the same day.

A Rushlane report explains Chevrolet India has announced that the launch date of the Trailblazer is 20 October. The seven-seater full size SUV was first showcased in India at the 2014 Auto Expo and was on country-wide testing.

The SUV measures 4,878mm in length, 1,902mm in width and 1,838mm of height. Chevy SUV comes with 2,845mm wheelbase and 231mm of ground clearance.

The face of the SUV is similar to the family design of the manufacturer with split grill and 'bowtie' Chevrolet logo at the centre. The massive grille is flanked by sharp-looking projector headlamps. The rear of the vehicle is similar to its main rival, Toyota Fortuner, with typical boxy design. The SUV does not boast of unique styling, yet all the proportions are neat and cohesive.

The SUV has Corvette-inspired three-spoke steering wheel that comes mounted controls for audio and cruise control. The interior receives black and beige dual-tone finish. The SUV also features 7 inch 'MyLink' touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone app link.

Though there are many engine options available in the international market, India-spec Trailblazer will be sold only in second-generation 2.8-litre Duramax four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that develops 197bhp of power at 3,600rpm and 500Nm of torque at 2,000rpm mated to six-speed automatic transmission. This also means that the Trailblazer will be the most powerful vehicle in its segment when launched. The SUV is built on body-on-frame chassis.

The expected price for Trailblazer will be around Rs 29 lakh and it will be pitted against Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.
