Chevrolet has started testing its upcoming Beat Activ hatchback crossover on the Indian roads and a prototype of the model was spied while undergoing testing in Bengaluru. The Beat Activ, the jazzed-up version of the new Beat, had made its India debut at the Auto Expo 2016 in February and is expected to be launched in the country next year.
Although the first set of images of the Beat Activ shows the model in its partly camouflaged form, the prototype does reveal features like the front and rear body cladding. Photographed by MotorVikatan, the Beat Activ from the American auto major is likely to get a reworked front fascia with LED lighting in the headlamps and fog lamps, a black plastic cladding on the bumper and skid plate.
While the pillar-mounted door handles of the Beat are likely to be retained, Chevrolet is also expected to give minor tweaks on the side of the car. The hatchback crossover is likely to get new colour options inside the cabin, with features like seven-inch MyLink infotainment system and a motorbike-inspired instrument cluster.
Powering the Beat Activ is likely to be the same 1.2-litre petrol and 1.0-litre diesel engine of the current Chevrolet Beat. While the petrol motor can churn out 79bhp of power at 6200rpm and 108Nm of torque at 4400rpm, the diesel can develop 57bhp at 4000rpm and 150Nm at 1750rpm. The transmission in the current Beat is taken care of by five-speed manual transmission.
