Chelsea have confirmed that they have suspended three fans in connection to the racist incident that took place in a Metro station in Paris ahead of the Blues 1-1 draw against PSG in the round of sixteen first leg of the Champions League on 17 February.

A group of travelling Chelsea fans had denied entry to a black passenger, shoving him to the platform, when the train had halted at the Richelieu-Drouot station.

In addition to that they were clearly heard chanting, "We're racist and that's the way we like it"

Chelsea had immediately issued a statement saying that the club would be taking strict action against the perpetrators involved in the incident, which was captured in an amateur video.

And now the Blues have confirmed that that three of the perpetrators have been identified and suspended, pending further investigation

"Chelsea Football Club is suspending three people from Stamford Bridge as a result of investigations into the incident on the Paris Metro on Tuesday evening," read a statement in the club's official website.

The statement added that these three supporters will be banned for life if they are found guilty.

"If it is deemed there is sufficient evidence of their involvement in the incident, the club will issue banning orders for life."

"We have received substantial information to date following our witness appeal and we are grateful to the many Chelsea supporters who have provided information so far.

"Our investigations are on-going and we would request any further information is sent to customer.services@chelseafc.com. We also continue to cooperate fully with the Metropolitan and Paris police forces who lead the ongoing criminal investigation."

Authorities in Paris have confirmed that the alleged victim, identified as Souleymane, according to media reports, has filed an official complaint following the incident.

It is believed that anyone convicted could be facing a fine of €45,000 as well as a prison term lasting upto three years.

Souleymane, who works as a chief operating officer at a business close to the Richelieu-Drouot Metro, has called for the culprits to be "locked up."

"These people, these English supporters, have to be found, punished and should be locked up. What happened shouldn't go unpunished," said the man in an interview with Le Parisien.
