India moved to the top of the league standings as they edged past England 2-1 in a Champions Trophy game. Mandeep Singh and Harmanpreet Singh scored for India on Sunday.

India were facing relentless attacks from the Great Britain side in the second half but goalie PR Sreejesh stood tall to make a number of vital saves. That helped India hold on to their lead right till the end and secure a well-fought victory.

Mandeep Singh opened the scoring for India in the 17th minute when right winger SV Sunil broke through the defence and set it up for him to find the back of the net.

Harmanpreet Singh converted a penalty stroke in the 33th minute and gave India a comfortable 2-0 lead over Great Britain.

But Great Britain are a side who would not have kept quiet for long. Ashley Jackson pulled one back for them just two minutes after Harmanpreet made it 2-0 for India.

India were trying hard to keep the ball to themselves as Great Britain continued to attack. India's goalie Sreejesh stepped up to the plate to hand India a fantastic victory, making several saves in the second half.

India now have four points from two matches as they had drawn 3-3 with Germany in the last game.
