For quite some time now, popular show "Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat" has been in the news for an impending leap. While it was reported that the makers have zeroed in on Mohit Raina of "Devon Ke Dev..Mahadev" fame to play the role of grown-up Ashoka, they are yet to finalise the female lead, who would justify the character of warrior Ashoka's love interest Kaurwaki.
According to latest reports, Somya Seth of "Kavya" fame has been roped in to play the role of Kaurwaki, currently played by Reem Sheikh. Although, Somya said that she was in talks with the makers, the deal is yet to be finalised. "Though I was in talks with the production team, currently I am holidaying at Amritsar with my family. So, I do not have much information about the current developments," the actress told Tellychakkar.com.
According to a report in India Forums, popular actress Sanjeeda Shaikh has also been approached to play the role of Kaurwaki. Sanjeeda was recently seen in reality show "Power Couple," along with her husband and actor Aamir Ali.
Earlier, the makers had considered Rishabh Sinha, Sidharth Shukla and Gautam Rode for the role of grown-up Ashoka. However, the role finally went on to Mohit. It now remains to be seen whether Somya or Sanjeeda will be seen opposite Mohit on the show.
"Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat" was supposed to take a 12-year leap in April, which would also mark the exit of Siddharth Nigam, who plays the role young Ashoka. However, with the delay in finalising the lead characters of the show, it appears like the viewers will have to wait some more for the time leap.
