Piravom, Sep 13 (ANI): The traditional snake boat race in Piravom town of Kerala mesmerized the onlookers as they celebrated the 'harvest festival', Onam with great fervour. This is the third time the annual event is taking place on the rivers of Muvatupuzha and the main attraction of the event was the rowing of boats against current, which is considered to be the uniqueness of the race. More than 26 boats took part in the Piravom Boat Race festival. There were six snake boats apart from the 21 small and big boats. Well known snake boats such as Jawahar Thayankari, Anariputhan, Champakkulam, Payippad, Vellamkulangara and Cheruthana took part in the race. The winners of the race were awarded with K Karunakaran Memorial trophy including various cash awards.
