The Hyderabad Police on Thursday filed a case against Congress senior leader Digvijaya Singh in connection with the controversial tweets posted by him accusing the Telangana police of encouraging the Muslim youth to join the Islamic State group. The case has been filed at the Jubilee Hills Police Station.

Singh had accused the Telangana police of radicalising the Muslim youth through its fake pages on social media to join Isis. He also raised questions over Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao being aware of the matter or having authorised such action.

Singh had said in a series of tweets: "The Telangana police has set up a bogus ISIS site which is radicalising Muslim youths and encouraging them to become ISIS modules. It was on their information that Madhya Pradesh Police arrested those who were responsible for the bomb blast in train in Shajapur District of MP. It also resulted in the Saifullah encounter in Kanpur on the same day."

Singh had also shared an article about British MPs saying that "social media firms must face heavy fines over extremist content." He then said: "I agree, but what about the Telangana police, which is posting inflammatory postings to radicalise Muslim youths through their fake ISIS site?"

the Congress leader also said: "The issue is whether Telangana police should be trapping Muslim youths in becoming ISIS modules by posting inflammatory information? Is It ethical? Is it moral? Has KCR authorised Telangana police to trap Muslim youths and encourage them to join ISIS? If he has, then shouldn't he own up responsibility and resign? If he hasn't, shouldn't he enquire and punish those who are responsible for committing such a heinous crime?"
