India is shining bright this year at the Cannes Film Festival, with its film industry celebrating its 100th anniversary. On the style front, Bollywood actresses have notched up the glamour quotient, steering away the attention from other international stars on the red carpet.

While Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Nandita Das and a few other actresses attended the international film festival in the past, others like Ameesha Patel, Vidya Balan and Sherlyn Chopra made their debut on the Cannes red carpet this year.

The commemorate the Centennial of Indian Cinema, Vidya, Sonam Aishwarya Rai, Nandita Das, Ameesha Patel and even Sherlyn Chopra projected their enthic looks in traditional saris, lehenga cholis and anarkalis.

After several fashion disasters in the past, Aishwarya turned up fabulous in a sari and a few western outfits that she donned in the last one week. The former Miss World extended her stay at Cannes and was seen attending the amfAR (The foundation of AIDS Research) gala.

For the gala on 23 May, the 30-year-old actress wore a shimmering golden net sari with high-necked blouse designed by Tarun Tahiliani accompanied with long earrings.

Ameesha Patel made her first entry at the film carnival in a dark blue Lehenga and peach colour long choli and duppatta created by Manish Malhotra. Ameesha is in Cannes to promote her film "Shortcut Romeo".

Puja Gupta, one of the lead actresses "Shortcut Romeo", looked effervescent in an ivory Gauri and Nainika creation.

Nandita Das, who is a short film jury member, wore a purple colour silk sari for the premiere of "Only God Forgives". She later attended the photocall in a yellow chuddidar with a peach shaded duppatta.

"Kamasutra 3D" actress Sherlyn Chopra is creating waves at the prestigious film festival. For the screening of Italian film "La Grande Bellezza" on 23 May the actress, known for her bold image, sizzled in an off-white lehenga and full sleeved blouse and duppatta. A day before that, the actress shocked everyone as she walked the red carpet in a revealing black transparent dress and a chunky neck-piece.
