Madhur Bhandarkar has been unmasking the world of showbiz to the audience for a while now. Be it "Fashion" or "Heroine", the director has stripped glamour industries naked for his viewers and with "Calendar Girls" he hopes to do the same, or at least promises so.

The girls

They're all new, fresh and vivacious. Seasoned actresses coming out this bold could backfire, and so bringing in debutantes was a wise move.

Akanksha Puri, Avani Modi, Kyra Dutt, Ruhi Singh and Satarupa Pyne are all set to climb the ladder to stardom. They sound confident in their interviews and are a perfect fit to the script.

Although this couldn't be any different from what the filmmaker has already shown in his previous films, there's an interesting twist waiting around the corner in the film.

With success and showbiz at the centre of the film's narrative, there's a lot of potential for it to make for an interesting watch.

He has a good sense of what's going on in the industry and does his research well. Kareena Kapoor Khan's "Heroine" failed to be a big deal, but this could be his opportunity to undo what he didn't do right.

Suhel Seth as Vijay Mallya

Business tycoon Vijay Mallya is an interesting character. His interviews and the way he conducts himself in public can be made into a full-fledged film.

However, what'll be more thrilling to watch is Suhel Seth's portrayal of the liquor baron on the big screen. Interestingly, the author-theatre actor reportedly said he will not be seen mimicking Mallya in the film.

The Shilpa Shetty factor

There have been conjectures on how one of the characters is loosely based on Shilpa's life. Akanksha Puri, who reportedly plays a South Indian in the film, will be seen embracing modelling only to give it up later to get married to a businessman.
