Over 20 people died after a bus travelling from Ratlam to Mandsaur with over 40 people on board fell into a gorge in the Bara Pathar area of the town of Namli in the Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh around 10:30 am on Friday.

The accident also left 10 people injured and they have been taken to a local hospital in Ratlam. Eight dead bodies have also been sent to Ratlam, Dainik Jagran reported. The bus belonged to the Mamata Bus Service.

Locals rushed to the spot to help in the rescue operations, which is currently underway. The police have also reached the spot.

According to the injured, the driver was driving at high speed due to which the bus turned turtle and fell into the gorge. Some said that one of the tyres of the bus burst due to the speed following which it fell into the gorge. The driver had been told not to drive the bus at such a high speed but he did not listen.

The locals reportedly raised slogans against the government and expressed anger towards the police officials.

This is a developing story.
