After announcing the BB249 plan, state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has come with another lucrative unlimited data broadband plan -- BBG 1199 -- which is certain to give Reliance Jio's soon-to-be launched GigaFiber service a run for its money.
Earlier in the month, BSNL launched BB249 plan. It offered unlimited data for a month with 2mbps speed. But it had one caveat. The broadband offer could only be utilised for six months, after which the customer must choose one of the regular plans.
Now, BSNL's new BBG Combo ULD 1199 offers similar benefits for ever. In this plan, users just have to pay Rs. 1,199 per month and can enjoy unlimited internet with 2mbps speed flat with free calls —local and STD — to any networks 24x7. Consumers can also opt for one-year, two-year and three-year plans with additional cash discounts as well. This service is available across all cities in India.
With this new plan, BSNL will get a head-start over Reliance's upcoming Jio GigaFiber FTTH (Fiber To The Home) broadband service. It is currently being tested in New Delhi and Mumbai and is expected to commence commercial operation in few more cities later this year.
Rumours are rife that Reliance Jio GigaFiber monthly package is said to start at Rs. 500 for 600GB of data (valid for 30 days).
