Boko Haram Militants Attack Nigeria's Yobe State Capital

Suspected Boko Haram militants launched a fresh attack in Nigeria as they entered Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State, targeting the Yobe State University and shooting at anyone in sight, as per breaking reports.

The militants launched a heavy attack on the town on Monday, as residents reported hearing explosions and gunshots.

"It is as if they have surrounded us all here; there is sound of explosion and serious shooting. We are all lying down on the floor with our families. Please pray for our safety, that we survive this... " Yaya Haruna, a resident, told Premium Times.

Military personnel have reportedly reached the city, and jet fighters were reportedly engaging the militants.

The attack comes days after deadly explosions at a Nigerian mosque by Boko Haram left scores dead.
