A suspected Islamic State (Isis) suicide bomber crashed an explosive-laden vehicle into a check post near the Kandahar international airport on Sunday. As many as 25 security personnel were reportedly killed in the suicide attack.

Isis in Afghanistan claimed responsibilty for the attack on Twitter. It said that the attack was carried out as part of a "martrydom" operation as its fighter drove an explosive-laden SUV into a check post near Tarnak bridge in Kandahar province around noon. It claimed that 25 soldiers were killed in the attack - 15 American soldiers and 10 Afghans.

Kabul-based journalist Mutmaeen said in a Twitter post that at least four were killed and around 20 others were wounded.
