Cooch Behar, Aug 28 (ANI): Breach of embankment of river Kalyani submerged several villages in Cooch Behar district of West Bengal forcing people to leave for safer places as flood water streamed through hearth and home. The incessant rainfall and flood resulted in loss of property in the villages of Natabari, Chilakhana and Bhuchumari. The overflow of river water also damaged acres of farmland. Similar conditions prevailed in Siliguri town in Darjeeling district of the state which received 150mm rainfall on August 26 which triggered a flood-like situation disrupting normal life.
