Brazil, June 16 (ANI): Demonstrators gathered in the Brazilian capital of Brasilia to rally against the high costs of the ongoing FIFA World Cup. Hundreds of protestors convened at a bus terminal in the downtown area of the city before heading out to the Mane Garrincha National Stadium, shouting slogans condemning the tournament. The protesters said they were angry about more than 11.5 billion US dollars spent on the World Cup when Brazil is facing glaring inequality and pressing needs in education, healthcare, housing and transport. Meanwhile, police in Rio de Janeiro near Maracana stadium used tear gas on protesters after they threw explosive devices.
