Freddie Roach wants to bring Pacquiao's left hand punch backReuters

Hall of Fame Trainer Freddie Roach is one of the best boxing trainers the world has ever seen and he knows what it takes to get his boxers in perfect shape for a bout.

Manny Pacquiao, who will fight Floyd Mayweather on 2 May at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, has been undergoing some serious training under the watchful eyes of Roach and the trainer is leaving no stone unturned for the mega fight to keep the Filipino ready to fight and stop the American.

"Pac-Man" has been asked to use his left hand to punch in training. In the past matches as well, one has seen that the Filipino has more often than not floored opponents with his lethal left hand and also his right.

Though, the Filipino bags a good right hand punch, Pacquiao is at his best when he goes through the opponents defense and lands that straight left onto his rival.

Not many are able to get up after that left straight punch, provided Pacquiao strikes it clean. This is the same ploy that the trainer might decide on to floor the unbeaten American champion.

But make no mistake, Pacquiao's right hand punch has also been used successfully used to knock down his opponents. Roach wants Pac-Man to be in such perfect shape that he can use both his hands to the fullest effect during the fight.

"We did 12 rounds of left hand only. The right hand was never used," Roach told the Times.

"It's about putting everything together."

The American can dominate inside the ring, if both his right and left hand punches click perfectly.

But, of late, one has noticed that the boxer has been favouring the right, and Roach has felt the need to bring his left hand power and punch back.

"It's all about usage, muscle memory ... [Pacquiao and Mayweather] will be equal at some point [in the bout]. Manny's been favoring the right side so much now, I need to bring the left back."

Talking about the left hand punch of Pacquiao, Roach said, "Oh, it's deadly."

Pacquaio's camp are so serious about the fight that they have already kept the media out of the Manny Pacquiao's training room so that the boxer does not have anything to think about apart from the mega fight.
