Here is the Chennai box office collection report of Vishal's "Aambala" and GV Prakash's "Darling":

Aambala

Vishal-starrer "Aambala" has fared well in the first weekend at the Chennai box office. The film took good openings and minted ₹63.23 lakh, reported Behindwoods.

Directed by Sundar C, "Aambala" is an action comedy entertainer with Vishal and Hansika playing the lead roles. The film boasts of a big supporting cast including Prabhu, Ramya Krishnan, Aishwarya, Kiran, Vaibhav, Santhanam and Sathish.

The action entertainer received average feedback from critics, with many calling it a typical Sundar C film that has nothing new to offer. While the first weekend has been good for "Aambala," it needs to be seen if the film will be able to hold its ground against other new releases like "I" and "Darling" and register good collections at the box office.

Darling

GV Prakash's horror comedy film "Darling" has taken good openings at the Chennai box office. Despite getting lesser number of shows as compared to Vikram's "I" and Vishal's "Aambala," "Darling" has opened well.

The film grossed ₹19.24 lakh in its opening weekend at the Chennai box office. The horror entertainer fetched good reviews from critics and the audience alike. If the film sustains its momentum, it is likely emerge as a hit at the box office.

Horror comedy seems to be the latest trend in Kollywood. Last year, films like "Yaamirukka Bayamey" and "Aranmanai" fared well at the box office. "Darling" is expected to join the list of horror films that have struck gold at the box office.

Directed by Sam Anton, "Darling" is a remake of Telugu film "Prema Katha Chitram." The Telugu version was a huge box office success and now its Tamil version is also doing well commercially.

The film marks the acting debut of music composer GV Prakash, while Nikki Galrani, Karunakaran and Bala Saravanan are also part of its cast. Prakash has composed the songs, while the film has been produced by Geetha Arts and Studio Green.
