"Tanu Weds Manu Returns" (TWMR) recorded a huge jump in box office collection in Indian market on Saturday, taking its two-day domestic collection to well over ₹20 crore.

"Tanu Weds Manu Returns" is a sequel to "Tanu Weds Manu" (TWM), which was a big hit at the box office. The huge success of the prequel had created lot of expectations about the sequel. The producers promoted it in a big way and the promos seem to have succeeded in impressing the viewers. And, it obviously helped the film do a brisk business as it also saw a good volume of advance booking.

Having released in over 2000 cinema halls in the domestic market, "Tanu Weds Manu Returns" opened to a thunderous response across the country. It raked in ₹8.75 crore from the Indian market on the first day of its release as TWMR became the biggest opener for Kangana Ranaut.

"Tanu Weds Manu Returns" received positive reviews from critics as well as viewers and the word of mouth took its business upwards on Saturday. On its second day, the film witnessed over 50% growth and collected over ₹13.10 crore.

Film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#TanuWedsManuReturns biz witnesses PHENOMENAL growth. Biz multiplies on Day 2. Fri 8.75 cr, Sat 13.10 cr+. Total: ₹ 21.85 cr. India biz."

The Kangana Ranaut and Madhavan starrer will face the heat of the final match of IPL T20 on Sunday. However, trade experts feel that the strong word of mouth will not let the IPL match affect its business and the film will recover its production cost in just three days. Taran Adarsh tweeted, "At the speed #TanuWedsManuReturns is sprinting, ₹ 35 cr [+/-] opening weekend is on the cards. Cost [incl P&A]: ₹ 30 cr. FABULOUS!"

Made with a budget of ₹17.5 crore, "Tanu Weds Manu" had made ₹18.50 crore at the box office in its first week and its life-time total stands at ₹56 crore. However, "Tanu Weds Manu Returns" has beaten its collection record of first week in just two days. Trade experts predict that the sequel will smash the lifetime record on the prequel in opening week.

"Tanu Weds Manu Returns" also got a superb opening in the international markets. Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#TanuWedsManuReturns doubles in Overseas: AUS: Fri A$ 40,168, Sat A$ 79,349 NZ: Fri NZ$ 7,671, Sat NZ$ 15,411 UK: Fri £ 34,607, Sat £ 64,110."
