Salman Khan's "Sultan" fever has gripped the domestic box office across India. The sports drama, which was released on a mid-week partial holiday, has got a bumper opening at the worldwide box office as well.

Salman and Anushka Sharma-starrer "Sultan" has opened on a mammoth note across all the circuits in India on Wednesday. The occupancy reports of "Sultan" from all the circuits have started pouring in and it looks like a Tsunami at the box office. Several theatres in India registered a phenomenal start, with almost all the shows going houseful.

Ali Abbas Zafar's directorial sports-drama, which received positive reviews from the critics, opened in theatres to approximately 90 to 100 percent occupancy. The first day first shows in Mumbai, National Capital Region, UP and Rajasthan circuits have shown 100% occupancy.

The circuits in the Northern region have always worked in Salman's favour, while the Eastern and Southern regions used to play a spoilsport. But interestingly, this year the Eastern and Southern circuits have also started with a bang, Box Office India reported. This would boost the opening day box office collection of "Sultan" in India.

The phenomenal opening of "Sultan" has brought in a hope for box office trade experts, who expected few of the releases in the first half of the year to perform well. Trade analysts took to Twitter to say that not only is it the biggest opening of this year, but "Sultan" is all set to have one of the highest opening day collections as well. If the film continues to maintain the momentum until the end of the day, then it might break the first-day business record of Shah Rukh Khan's "Happy New Year," which is the biggest opener of all time with Rs. 44.97 crore net income.
