Latest Bollywood release "Happy New Year" starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles, has got a brilliant opening in India and has maintained rock-steady pace at the box office. Having made fantabulous collection in six days, the Farah Khan directorial has smashed several records in the domestic market and set its own 10 brand new records.

  • "Happy New Year", which collected ₹44.97 crore on the first day, has become the biggest opener of the year 2014, beating the record of Salman Khan's "Kick" that had raked in ₹26.30 crore at the Indian box office on its opening day.
  • "Happy New Year" has become the biggest opener of all time beating the record of Aamir Khan's "Dhoom 3", which had collected ₹38.03 crore at the domestic box office on the first day.
  • "Happy New Year" has become the biggest non-holiday opener, beating the opening day record of "Dhoom 3", which was released on 19 December 2013.

  • "Happy New Year", which collected ₹108.86 crore nett in three days, has become the Highest Opening Weekend grosser of 2014, beating the previous record of Hrithik Roshan's recent release "Bang Bang", which has raked in ₹94.13 crores nett.
  • "Happy New Year" has become biggest weekend opening grosser of all time, beating the record of by Aamir Khan's "Dhoom 3", which had earned ₹107.61 crores in its four day-extended first weekend.
  • Having crossed ₹100 crore mark in two and half days, "Happy New Year" has become the fastest 100 crore grosser, beating the record of Rohit Shetty's "Chennai Express", which had raked in ₹100.87 crore nett in its three days, which also included its collection in the paid preview on Thursday evening.
