R Madhavan starrer "Saala Khadoos" and Tusshar Kapoor's "Mastizaade" had a good opening weekend at the domestic box office.

Saala Khadoos (Irudhi Suttru)

Madhavan starrer "Saala Khadoos" witnessed a good jump at the box office on Saturday and Sunday. From over 500 screens, the film minted Rs 9.93 crore, including the Hindi and Tamil versions.

The Hindi version of the film, titled "Saala Khadoos", minted Rs 5.79 crore, while the Tamil version, titled "Irudhi Suttru", earned Rs 4.14 crore from its opening weekend run.

"#SaalaKhadoos biz jumps on Sunday. Biz almost doubles. [Hindi] Fri 1.28 cr, Sat 2.09 cr, Sun 2.42 cr. Total: ₹ 5.79 cr. India biz... contd," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, adding, "#SaalaKhadoos [Tamil] Fri 91 lacs, Sat 1.45 cr, Sun 1.78 cr. Total: ₹ 4.14 cr... Hindi ₹ 5.79 cr + Tamil ₹ 4.14 cr total: ₹ 9.93 cr."

After having a slow start on Friday, the business of both the versions went up on Saturday and Sunday. In fact, on Sunday, the box office collection was 50 percent more than its opening day. But now, the film needs to have a good run during weekdays to have a good first-week box office collection.

Mastizaade

Milap Zaveri's directorial "Mastizaade" didn't crash at the box office in its opening weekend, like the last week's adult comedy "Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3" did. The adult comedy starring Tusshar, Vir Das and Sunny Leone minted Rs 18.45 crore in its opening weekend.

"Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3" had a Rs 8 crore opening, but ended up with Rs 20.15 crore opening weekend total, whereas "Mastizaade" earned Rs 5.59 crore on day one, but after three days, the total stands at Rs 18.45 crore.

"Mastizaade" had a decent weekend, but like "Saala Khadoos", this adult comedy also needs to have a strong collection on weekdays. Both the films are facing tough competition from "Airlift", so it remains to be seen how these films will fare at the end of their first week.
