R Madhavan's "Saala Khadoos" (Irudhi Suttru), which received positive reviews, failed to kick-off on a good note at the box office, while the adult comedy "Mastizaade" had a decent opening.

Saala Khadoos (Irudhi Suttru)

Starring Madhavan and newcomer Ritika Singh, the bilingual film based on boxing earned just Rs 1.28 crore from the Hindi version and Rs 91 lakh from the Tamil version on its opening day.

"Saala Khadoos" (Irudhi Suttru) opened to positive reviews and thus was expected to have a good start with just 500 screens, but the film opened to very low occupancy. The occupancy increased in the evening and night shows, but it was not good enough to make the opening day box office collection stronger.

"#SaalaKhadoos Fri ₹ 1.28 cr. Tamil version: ₹ 91 lacs. Total: ₹ 2.19 cr. India biz... Gulf $ 110,000 [₹ 74.68 lacs]," trade analyst Taran Adarsh added.

"Saala Khadoos" now needs to show good growth at the box office during the weekend to make it to the safe zone.

Mastizaade

The adult comedy starring Sunny Leone, Vir Das and Tusshar Kapoor earned Rs 5.59 crore on the opening day. "Mastizaade" had a good run at the box office, but if compared to last week's adult comedy "Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3", the film had a slow start.

Despite releasing with Akshay Kumar's "Airlift", "Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3" minted Rs 8.15 crore on its first day. The opening day collection of "Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3" was one of the highest in the given genre. On the other hand, "Mastizaade" minted just Rs 5.59 crore, which is 30 percent lower than "Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3" opening day box office collection.

Like "Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3", "Mastizaade" reviews are also not in the favour of the film, which might affect the Saturday and Sunday's box office run. Also, Akshay's "Airlift" is dominating the box office and is giving tough competition to all the films, which are currently running in theatres.

Hence, it remains to be seen whether "Mastizaade" will find audiences during the weekend or it will have the same fate as "Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3" at the box office.
