Jayam Ravi starrer "Romeo Juliet" has remained strong at the Chennai box office and has beaten latest releases like "ABCD 2" and "Eli".

In the last weekend, "Romeo Juliet" had 129 shows from which it earned ₹56.56 lakh. With this, the total collection of the movie at the Chennai box office stands at ₹1.74 crore, reports Behindwoods.

In its second week, "Jurassic World" also pulled a number of audience to theatres in Chennai and it is in the second position after "Romeo Juliet" in the city. Even this film had 129 shows, but made ₹40.65 lakh, which is a good number for an English film.

However, the total collection of this Hollywood flick is higher than the Jayam Ravi starrer, with "Jurassic World" earning ₹1.85 crore by the end of its second weekend.

Latest Tamil release "Eli", starring Vadivelu and Sadha, had 135 shows and earned ₹34.40 lakh. It is declared as an average opening for a Tamil movie in its first weekend. Given the presence of Vadivelu, the Tamil flick should have at least crossed the ₹50-lakh mark, but the negative reviews spolied its prospects.

Bollywood movie "ABCD 2" has got a thumping start at the Chennai box office. It has collected ₹24.62 lakh from 78 shows. The Remo D'Souza directorial's future looks bright as it has got good reviews from the audience and critics.

"ABCD 2" is followed by Santhanam starrer "Inimey Ippadithaan". The Tamil movie earned ₹21.90 lakh from 111 shows to take its total collection to ₹98.87 lakh. Children's movie "Kaaka Muttai" made ₹19.29 lakh from 99 shows and the total business made by this flick at the Chennai box office stands at ₹1.58 crore.

Bollywood film "Dil Dhadakne Do" (₹2.26 lakh), "Demonte Colony" (₹1.18 lakh), "Tanu Weds Manu" (₹77 thousand) and "36 Vayadhinile" (₹30,528 thousand) are in the remaining positions.
