Vishnu Vishal- Nandita's "Mundasupatti" has taken a decent opening at the Chennai box office.

The romantic comedy entertainer, set in the 80s, has raked in ₹40.10 lakh in its opening weekend, reported Behindwoods.

"Mundasuppatti" has been receiving good reviews from critics as well as from celebrities.

Recently, superstar Rajinikanth watched the film and heaped praises on the performances of Vishnu, Kaali and Ramadoss. He also congratulated the film's producers Thirukumaran Entertainment and Fox Star Studios India for providing a complete family entertainer.

Audience has also given thumbs up for the retro comedy drama. Positive word of mouth is likely to help the film sustain its business and mint good collections.

Naan Thaan Bala

Vivek's "Naan Thaan Bala" has taken below average opening in Chennai. The film opened to mixed reviews from critics upon its release on 13 June. It witnessed average theatre occupancy of 40 percent and minted over ₹6 lakh in the first weekend. The film's collections are expected to drop further in the coming days owing to new releases.

Manjapai

Vimal-Lakshmi Menon's "Manjapai" has sustained well in its second weekend. The film, which hit the screens on 6 June, received decent reviews from critics. It also impressed the audience and took a good opening in its debut weekend.

The family entertainer has continued its good run despite new releases. The film has earned ₹1.66 crore in 10 days at the Chennai box office. It remains to be seen if "Manjapai" will manage to hold well in the coming days. If the film performs steadily, it is likely to achieve hit status.

Kochadaiiyaan

Superstar Rajinikanth's "Kochadaiiyaan" has become an above average grosser at the Chennai box office.

The film, which hit the screens on 23 May, has managed to hold on to a few shows. However, its collections have dropped and only the 3D version seems to be pulling in some crowd in theatres.

The historic drama has minted ₹5.51 crore at the end of the fourth weekend in Chennai. The film successfully completed 25-day run on Monday (16 June).

Directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth, "Kochadaiiyaan" has Rajinikanth in dual roles. Deepika Padukone, Nassar, Shobana, Jackie Shroff, Sarathkumar and Aadhi are also part of the film's cast.

Un Samayal Arayil

The Prakash Raj-Sneha starrer "Un Samayal Arayil" has turned out to be a big disappointment at the Chennai box office.

The film took an average opening in its first weekend. However, the romantic drama fetched mixed reviews from critics and it seems to have affected the film's business.

"Un Samayal Arayil" lost majority of the shows in its second week. According to Behindwoods, the Prakash Raj starrer has minted over ₹25 lakh in 10 days at the Chennai box office.
