MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, the biopic of cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and Vijay Sethupathi's Aandavan Kattalai dominated the Chennai box office last weekend. Both the films enjoyed good viewership and made impressive collection in the capital city of Tamil Nadu.

Dhoni's biopic has been released in Tamil as well as Hindi. The movie had 252 shows from which it has minted Rs 94.32 lakh, which is a huge number for a film that does not have an A-list actor, reports Behindwoods. The cricketer's popularity in the state helped the film to register such a response, say trade experts.

Aandavan Kattalai had 201 shows in its second weekend from which it has earned Rs 63.15 lakh. The 10-day collection of the flick stands at Rs 1.89 crore in Chennai.

Dhanush's Thodari has slipped to the third place in its second weekend and has earned Rs 43.75 lakh from 183 shows to take its total tally to Rs 2.95 crore in Chennai. Interestingly, it has made a decent collection despite getting mixed reviews.

Vikram's Iru Mugan has entered its fourth weekend. The Tamil movie earned Rs 10.09 lakh from 78 shows. The total collection of the film stands at Rs 5.91 crore.

Telugu movie Hyper has received an average opening in Chennai as it collected Rs 9.34 lakh from 54 shows. Amitabh Bachchan's Hindi film Pink has entered its third weekend and earned Rs 9.32 lakh from 54 shows to take its tally to Rs 76.92 lakh.
