Jiiva's Kavalai Vendam and Bollywood movie Dear Zindagi are off to a good start at the Chennai box office. Both the new movies have made good collections in its first weekend, while Silambarasan's Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada has continued to enjoy good viewership.

Kavalai Vendam got a decent opening on Thursday, but the collections improved on the following days. On Saturday and Sunday, the movie enjoyed good viewership in Chennai. In the first weekend, the movie had over 300 shows from which it has earned Rs 1.24 crore, reports Behindwoods.

Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt's Dear Zindagi has been grandly welcomed by the Chennai cine-goers as the movie has minted Rs 50.25 lakh from 135 shows. This is considered to be a very good number for a Hindi film in the capital city of Tamil Nadu. The good word-of-mouth has apparently made a big difference for the flick, say trade experts.

Simbu's Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada had 141 shows in its third weekend from which it has earned Rs 32.14 lakh. The total collection of the movie now stands at Rs 5.52 crore.

Kadavul Irukaan Kumaru has entered its second weekend and it has earned Rs 27.04 lakh from 141 shows. The trade experts were expecting a better performance from this GV Prakash Kumar-starrer as the movie takes its total tally to Rs 1.50 crore in 10 days in Chennai.

Hollywood movie Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them had decent viewership in its second weekend where it has collected Rs 13.99 lakh from 72 shows to take its 10-day total tally to Rs 79.10 lakh.

The business of Bollywood movie Force 2 has completely slowed down. It just raked in less than a lakh in its second weekend to take its total tally to Rs 28.34 lakh in Chennai.
