After clocking in a smashing first week box office collection, Fawad Khan and Sidharth Malhotra starrer "Kapoor and Sons" had an impressive week two at the domestic box office. On the other hand, Sonam Kapoor's "Neerja" has completed seven weeks at the box office.

Kapoor and Sons

The Fawad, Sidharth and Alia Bhatt-starrer has completed two weeks and with its 14-day box office collection, the film has shattered the lifetime box office collection record of "Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2." The romantic comedy, starring Kartik Aaryan, Omkar Kapoor, Sunny Nijar, Sonnalli Seygall, Ishita Raj Sharma and Nushrat Bharucha, minted Rs. 64.1 crore in its four-week run, which has now been shattered by "Kapoor and Sons."

"#KapoorAndSons [Week 2] Fri 4.21 cr, Sat 4.24 cr, Sun 3.64 cr, Mon 1.80 cr, Tue 1.70 cr, Wed 1.35 cr, Thu 1.20 cr. Total: ₹ 65.07 cr. SUPER!" trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

The film, directed by Shakun Batra, is now aiming to beat "Neerja" record. "Kapoor and Sons" is just Rs.10 crore short of shattering the Sonam-starrer's record. The family drama should ideally overshadow "Neerja" with its third-week collection, but it remains to be seen how "Kapoor and Sons" will perform after the release of "Ki and Ka."

Neerja

When most of the movies go out of theatres in four-weeks, the Sonam-starrer has completed phenomenal seven weeks at the box office. Though the collection has declined drastically, the film continues to entertain audiences in India. The film, which is based on a real-life story of flight attendant Neerja Bhanot, has minted Rs. 75.34 crore, until now.

"It's 7 weeks now and #Neerja continues to run in theatres. Total so far: ₹ 75.34 cr. India biz... Phenomenal love pouring in for the film," trade analyst Adarsh tweeted.

Directed by Ram Madhvani, the film features Sonam as Neerja, who saved the lives of passengers of hijacked Pan Am flight 73 Sep. 5, 1986, and Shabana Azmi as her mother.
