Hollywood movie "The Jungle Book" dominated the Chennai box office last weekend. After getting good reviews, the movie went on to do fantastic business in the capital city of Tamil Nadu and also beat Telugu biggie "Sardar Gabbar Singh."

"The Jungle Book" minted Rs 89.94 lakh from 219 shows, reported Behindwoods, which is an earth-shattering business for a Hollywood movie in Chennai. Recently, much-hyped "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" got a flying start in the capital city of Tamil Nadu where it did a business of Rs 81.26 lakh from 237 shows in its first weekend.

The total collection of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" stands at Rs 1.59 crore in Chennai and it remains to be seen whether "The Jungle Book" beats the record of this flick.

"Sardar Gabbar Singh" has been pushed to the second position in Chennai. It earned Rs 39.83 lakh from 126 shows. The Telugu film has got mixed reviews and the performance of the flick in the weekdays holds the key for its success at the box office.

Nagarjuna and Karthi's "Thozha" has continued to do well at the Chennai box office. It collected Rs 32.96 lakh from 120 shows last weekend. The total collection of the bilingual film in Chennai stands at Rs 3.49 crore.

"Hello Naan Pei Pesuren" raked in Rs 16.31 lakh from 111 shows last weekend. The total collection of the movie, which had collected Rs 37.55 lakh from 150 shows in its first weekend, stands at Rs 85.60 lakh.

Hollywood film "Kung Fu Panda 3" has earned Rs 16.02 lakh from 66 shows to take its total tally to Rs 64.78 lakh. Malayalam film "Jacobinte Swargarajyam" collected Rs 6.85 lakh from 30 shows.

New release "Jithan 2" has collected Rs 6.57 lakh from 48 shows. Hindi film "Ki and Ka" raked in Rs 6.35 lakh from 54 shows to take its total collection to Rs 45.59 lakh.

"Darling 2" had 21 shows in its second weekend, from which it earned Rs 2.71 lakh. The 10-day collection of the movie stands at Rs 38.68 lakh.
