Sathya Raj and Sibiraj-starrer "Jackson Durai" and the Hollywood movie, "The Legend of Tarzan" have got a good start at the Chennai box office, while "Appa" is off to a decent start.

"Jackson Durai" has collected Rs. 77.34 lakh from 225 shows in its first weekend, reported Behindwoods. Industry experts have declared it as a good opening for a movie, which does not have an A-list star in the cast. The well-planned promotional exercise seems to have worked well for the film, as it has done well despite getting mixed reviews.

The good run of Hollywood movies in Chennai has continued with the latest release, "The Legend of Tarzan." The movie has collected Rs. 66.71 lakh from 201 shows. In 2016, many international films, including "The Conjuring 2" and "The Jungle Book," have performed well in the capital city of Tamil Nadu.

Samuthirakani's "Appa" failed to garner positive reviews but the movie enjoyed a good turnout of family audience in theatres. This factor has helped the Tamil movie collect Rs. 18.05 lakh from 90 shows.

Another Hollywood movie, "Finding Dory," is into its third week in Chennai. The movie has raked in Rs. 7.37 lakh from 42 shows to take its total tally to Rs. 62.18 lakh. The film had collected Rs. 18.62 lakh from 66 shows and Rs. 13.14 lakh from 54 shows in the first and second weekends.
