The first half of the year is over and the box office report card of Bollywood films is out. More than 90 Bollywood films were released in the first and second quarter of the year, but only a few emerged as the hits of 2016. The hit films list includes Akshay Kumar's two films, while Shah Rukh Khan's "Fan" which was expected to become a blockbuster had an average run.

Airlift: Akshay-starrer "Airlift" emerged as the first hit of 2016. "Airlift" was the first film of the year to cross Rs. 100 crore mark in India with its nett income at the box office. The film, based on a real-life story, received positive reviews and was appreciated by the audiences as well.

Neerja: Sonam Kapoor's "Neerja," which is also based on a real-life story, did not cross Rs. 100 crore mark but the film became one of the most successful films of this year.

Kapoor and Sons: Fawad Khan, Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt-starrer "Kapoor and Sons" became the third biggest hit of this year. Opened with positive reviews, the film had a good box office run in India.

Fan: Shah Rukh-starrer "Fan" had a good run at the worldwide box office. In India, the box office collection was not up to the mark, but at the overseas box office, the film had a phenomenal run.

Baaghi: Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer "Baaghi" had a phenomenal run in India. The film became a surprise hit at the box office and though did not cross the Rs. 100 crore mark, "Baaghi" minted the fourth highest collection of 2016.

Housefull 3: Akshay-starrer "Housefull 3" is the second biggest grosser of 2016 and the second film of the year to hit the century mark in India. The film continues its run in India and has emerged as a hit at the box office.
