Naan Sigappu Manithan

Vishal-Lakshmi Menon's "Naan Sigappu Manithan" (NSM) has opened on a good note at the Chennai box office.

The revenge drama flick is estimated to have grossed ₹56.7 lakh in its opening weekend at the Chennai box office, according to Behindwoods.

"NSM" witnessed average theatre occupancy of 80 percent during the debut weekend, the website reported.

Directed by Thiru, "NSM" is about how a guy with narcolepsy (rare sleep disorder) takes revenge on the villains who gang raped his lover. Vishal appears as the narcoleptic guy, whereas Lakshim Menon plays his love interest.

The film received decent reviews from critics as well as from the audience. With Monday being a holiday (Tamil New Year), there is a good chance that "NSM" theatre occupancy will improve. The film is expected to mint decent collections at the end of the four-day-long weekend.

It remains to be seen as to how the film fares during the weekdays. Vadivelu's comeback film "Tenaliraman" will be hitting screens this Friday (18 April). It will be interesting to see if "NSM" will be able to sustain its momentum at the box office despite the release of the historic comedy drama.

Maan Karate

"Maan Karate" remained unaffected due to the release of Vishal's "Naan Sigappu Manithan."

The fantasy, romantic entertainer continued its good run at the Chennai box office, with most of the theatres witnessing good occupancies. The film is estimated to have grossed ₹3.4 crore in 10 days (4-13 April). The Tamil New Year Day holiday is also likely to help the film's perform well at the box office.

Directed by debutante Thirukumaran, "Maan Karate" has Sivakarthikeyan and Hansika in lead roles.
