It's no secret that most of the A-listed Bollywood actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan prefer to release their films during the festive season.

While SRK and Salman blocks Diwali and Eid holidays, respectively to release their films, Aamir prefers Christmas for releasing his films.

Not only do the holidays pull in a lot of crowd to the theatres, but the festivals are apparently lucky for the actors, as seen over a period.

Here is a list of few films released during festive season that broke all records:

Aamir Khan:

"PK" (released during Christmas 2014): This film broke all records to become Bollywood's highest grossing film of all time in the domestic market. It was the first film to cross the Rs 300-crore mark at the India box office.

"Dhoom: 3" (released during Christmas 2013): This blockbuster film struck gold at the box office. The hit franchise held the record of highest grossing film of all time until "PK" surpassed it.

"3 Idiots" (released during Christmas 2009): "3 Idiots" broke all opening box-office records in India. It was the first film to make over Rs 200 crore business.

"Ghajini" (released during Christmas 2008): This Aamir Khan starrer became the highest grossing movie that year. "Ghajini" was the first film to enter the Rs 100-crore club.

Shah Rukh Khan:

SRK's association with the festive season of Diwali goes back a long way. His first blockbuster and Diwali release was "Baazigar" (1993) followed by "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" (1995) and "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" (1998).

In recent times,  "Happy New Year" (released during Diwali 2014) struck gold at box office and was one of the fastest films to enter Rs 100-crore club.

"Chennai Express" (released during Diwali 2013): It broke several box office records in India and abroad, becoming the quickest film to collect Rs 100 crore in just three days.

Salman Khan:

"Dabangg" (released during Eid 2010): The Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha starrer flick broke all records and became the highest Bollywood grosser that year.

"Bodyguard" (released during Eid 2011): "Bodyguard" is the remake of Malayalam film with the same title. It broke several records and became the film with the highest opening day earnings at that time.

"Ek Tha Tiger" (released during Eid 2012): The blockbuster film, also starring Katrina Kaif, joined the list of highest earners ever.

"Kick" (released during Eid 2014):  It set cash registers ringing and was one of the highest grossing films of 2014.

"Bajrangi Bhaijaan" (released during Eid 2015): The film, which crossed the Rs 100-crore mark in its first three days itself, managed to rule the box office for a long time.

However, this year, Salman's "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" will release during Diwali while SRK will release his film "Dilwale" during Christmas.
