BMW Motorrad, the motorcycle division of BMW has brought its street-naked motorcycle S1000R to India, with a whopping price tag of ₹22.83 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).

BMW S1000R, a S1000RR inspired motorcycle draws its power from the 999cc water/oil-cooled, four-cylinder, four-stroke in-line engine, which is tuned to pump in a power of 160 bhp at 11000 rpm and a peak torque of 112 Nm at 9250 rpm and comes in three colours in the country - Racing red, Frozen dark blue metallic and Light white.

Built on aluminum frame, the BMW's new offering in the country draws stopping power from 320 mm disc brakes in front and a 220 mm rear disc. It offers 4 riding modes - Dynamic, Dynamic R, Rain and Road, while the latter two modes come as standard, the former two are optional.

The bike which first made its debut at the EICMA Auto Show in Milan, Italy also features ABS as standard. The waiting period of the bike will vary in the country from a week to month depending on the colour chosen and the availbilty, according to AutoCar India report. 

The Company will bring the S1000R to India as completely built units (CBU) and will be retailed through BMW's showrooms in the country. BMW Motorrad does not have independent showrooms in the country as of now.

Meanwhile, the car division of BMW is getting ready to launch its 3rd-generation BMW X5 in India on 29 May. The company will bring the latest SUV to India via as Completely Knocked Down (CKD) units and then will assemble locally at BMW Haryana facility. Under the hood, the upcoming X5 of BMW will pack 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine and will come mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
