The transmission is taken care by the M dual-clutch transmission with shift paddles and the car can attain from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds.

From a visual stand point, the new M5 looks impressive with its larger front air inlets and the adaptive LED headlights. There is also a new M steering wheel and chrome trim for the control display of the iDrive.

The car will be available in Alpine White (non-metallic paint), Black Sapphire, Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect, Monte Carlo Blue, Sakhir Orange, Silverstone, Singapore Grey and Space Grey (metallic paint).

On the safety front, the M5 accommodates features like air bags, Active M Differential, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including M Dynamic mode, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist, Active Protection with Attentiveness Assistant and Active headrests (front).

"Power delivery, torque, driving dynamics: the new BMW M5 embodies pure athleticism. Conventional rules do not apply to the new BMW M5. An independent production of BMW M GmbH, it remains faithful to the M philosophy, perfectly combining high performance with optimum everyday practicality. An uncompromising presence, a natural leader, it conquers every challenge. Whether on the open road or in the city, it is the perfect interplay of heartbeat, horsepower and exhilarating harmony," said Pilipp von Sahr, President, BMW Group India at the launch.

Brought to India as CBU (Completely Built-Up) unit, the new avatar of M5 is available for purchase at BMW dealerships across India. The M5 will take on the likes of Mercedes E63 AMG in India.
